Medical Laboratory Scientists (Newton Healthcare Corporation dba NMC Health) (Newton, KS): Follow hospital-wide and departmental policies, including general procedures, assigned duties, confidentiality, and observing the Patient's Bill of Rights; Receive verbal and written laboratory test requests, determine acceptability of request, enter orders in laboratory information system, and generate testing work lists and specimen labels, including registration processes as needed; Collect required specimens as authorized, judge adequacy of received specimens, reject unsatisfactory specimens, and initiate request for another specimen as needed; Perform equipment maintenance including quality management activities including calibration verification, testing material quality, analyzing and evaluating data quality, and initiating corrective actions for Westgard alerts; Perform sample testing and evaluate test results, repeating tests when results are questionable using the same sample or another sample as necessary; Order and manage blood products from American Red Cross and select, assign, process, and issue such products for transfusion; and Contribute to departmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulatory requirements including CLIA 88, OSHA, and FDA including survey and inspection activities as requested. Must have experience with the following in order to complete the above-mentioned tasks: Experience performing clinical laboratory specimen collection, evaluation, testing, result verification, and reporting for generalist disciplines; Knowledge of immunohematology, hematology, chemistry, immunology, special chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, and microbiology; Experience with high complexity testing, including performing abnormal manual differentials; Experience with testing equipment commonly found in a hospital lab such as hematology, chemistry, coagulation, molecular, and urinalysis analyzers; Quality management skills and ability to report accurate and reliable results; and Experience with laboratory reporting software.

Requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Medical Technology or related field, and at least two (2) years of occupational experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technologist, Medical Technologist or related occupation.
