We are currently seeking a Venous Specialist to join our esteemed practice in the Greater Charlotte Region, at the Atrium Health - Pineville Campus. This role entails the holistic clinical management of venous patients, with a specialized emphasis on interventional management of superficial venous disease.

Our Venous and Lymphatic clinic, an integral component of the vascular surgery division within the Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute, operates under the guidance of Dr. Erin Murphy. It is bolstered by a dedicated team of advanced practice practitioners and venous vascular technologists, and proudly holds IAC accreditation. Our comprehensive vascular surgical division comprises 11 vascular surgeons across the greater Charlotte region, ensuring robust support.

Key Practice Highlights:

  • The Venous and Lymphatic Center has recently transitioned to a dedicated, state-of-the-art ambulatory and procedural office on the Atrium Health - Pineville campus. This location is dedicated to clinical patient management and superficial venous procedures.
  • Deep venous procedures are conducted in the attached hospital, which is equipped with a cath lab featuring brand-new imaging set to be completed by the close of 2024.
  • The Venous and Lymphatic Center has an international reputation for clinical and academic excellence and draws patients locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • A premier site for venous vascular trial participation and enrollment.
  • Our offerings encompass a broad spectrum of venous procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Superficial venous closures
    • Sclerotherapy and phlebectomy
    • IVC and iliac vein reconstruction via endovascular, hybrid, and open approaches
    • Inferior Vena Cava Filter Removal, simple and complex
    • Management of both acute and chronic DVT cases
    • Pelvic venous congestion
    • Nutcracker Syndrome

Qualified candidates should possess:

  • Board Eligibility/Certification in a relevant subspecialty, with a particular emphasis on vascular medicine expertise. This role aligns well with a vascular medicine specialist. There is a keen interest in bolstering the vascular medicine sector at Sanger, and there is ample potential for collaborative ventures within this program. Additionally, individuals from backgrounds in vascular surgery, interventional radiology, cardiology, and dermatology will also be considered.
  • Preferred Interests and Expertise Include:
    • Interventional Management: Superficial venous disease
    • Medical Management: Encompassing comprehensive work-ups and medical optimization of patients with superficial venous disease, deep venous obstructions, pelvic venous congestion, acute and chronic thrombotic disease, POTS, and Nutcracker.
    • An interest in advancing the care of venous patients via contributions to research and education in the field.
    • A collaborative work ethic and mindset.

This position is tailored for individuals deeply committed to the medical management of venous disease and the interventional treatment of superficial venous conditions. Ideal candidates would be interested in advancing the superficial program and improving the current offerings while exhibiting a strong academic disposition and a willingness to actively contribute to advancing the academic and educational missions of our center.

In addition to this, we offer the opportunity to apply for academic professorship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, along with complete access to all institutional resources.

About the Practice:

Pineville Hospital, located in the highly sought-after South Charlotte region, boasts a 450-bed capacity and a newly established Cath lab. Cabarrus, situated 25 miles north, is a 650-bed hospital. The remainder of the Sanger Vascular team is stationed at CMC Main in uptown Charlotte and further north in Cabarrus County. Notably, Atrium Health has recently merged with Wake Forest Medical Center and the Wake Forest University Medical School, with the inaugural class set to commence in 2024.
